Houston TranStar is celebrating 20 years of valuable transportation and emergency management with completion of a 26,000 square foot expansion and 11,000 square foot renovation of its original facility. With these improvements, Houston TranStar has significantly enhanced its ability to accommodate more stakeholders during emergency response efforts and created greater capacity for new technologies and more timely communication with the public.

“Houston TranStar’s expansion has been vital in planning for the growth in our region,” said Jack Whaley, Director of Houston TranStar. “We were at full operational capacity, but our service area kept growing. Now we have expanded technological capabilities and the space to centrally house resources for improved coordination of evacuations and other emergency response and recovery efforts.”

TranStar’s expansion also benefits the public in non-emergency situations by providing state-of-the-art monitoring systems for around-the-clock transportation and incident management. Through shared resources, TranStar continues to eliminate costly duplication of services and save billions of taxpayer dollars.
