Heavy Truck Accident Closes I-10 Katy Eastbound at Houston Ave.
Travelers are urged to choose another route

Houston TranStar officials are advising the public that all main lanes of the I-10 Katy freeway eastbound at Houston Ave. are closed because of an accident involving a heavy truck. The big rig struck the Houston Ave. bridge, causing the truck’s load to shift. The load must be removed and any possible bridge damage assessed before lanes can be re-opened to the public.

A TxDOT maintenance crew has been dispatched to the scene to assess damage and begin any needed repair work.

The situation is expected to continue through the rush period. Because traffic is being routed to access roads and delays are expected to grow as traffic builds, travelers are urged to consider taking an alternate route.

Houston TranStar is a consortium of four government agencies that coordinate and enhance transportation and emergency management services, responding to incidents and emergencies in Harris County and beyond. Sharing their resources to serve area residents are: the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Harris County, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) and the City of Houston.
