Dinah Massie 713-881-3244 US 59 Southwest Freeway southbound lanes remain closed--but HOV lane open Joint seal must 'cure' without traffic disturbance Houston TranStar officials report that although two main lanes of US 59 Southwest Freeway at Bellaire Blvd. remain closed for an emergency repair to the expansion joint between lanes, the US 59 HOV lane has been opened to passenger vehicles. However, because traffic is already significantly congested in the area, travelers are urged to avoid the corridor and take an alternate route. The bonding agent applied to the expansion joint must be allowed to cure without traffic disturbing the joint's seal. The lane closure is still expected to last into the peak afternoon traffic period. -30- |
