I-610 North at US 59 Eastex closed in all directions
Traveling public urged to take an alternate route Houston TranStar officials recommend that area travelers avoid the interchange of I-610 North at US 59 Eastex. The interchange is closed in all directions because of an overturned 18-wheeler carrying isopropyl alcohol. The load must be moved to another vehicle before traffic can resume normal operations. The estimated clearance time is 6 - 7 p.m., when the load transfer will be complete and all lanes are reopened. To clear queuing, the police are routing traffic as follows: From the 610 North Loop, eastbound traffic will be diverted to US 59 southbound. From the 610 North Loop, westbound traffic will be forced to take US 59 northbound. From US 59 Eastex, northbound, traffic will be directed to 610 North Loop eastbound From US 59 Eastex, southbound will be diverted to 610 North Loop westbound Travelers are strongly urged to take an alternate route to their destinations. HOV lanes have been temporarily opened to the general public. Houston TranStar is a collaboration between four government agencies that coordinate and enhance transportation and emergency management services, responding to incidents and emergencies in Harris County and beyond. Sharing their resources to serve area residents are: the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Harris County, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) and the City of Houston. -30- |
