Annual Meeting May 3-5 ITS America’s 20th Annual Meeting & Exposition – May 3-5, 2010 – Houston, TX Register online and plan to attend! Media contact: Emily Fishkin (202) 721-4204 / efishkin@itsa.org The Intelligent Transportation Society of America, established to foster the use of technologies in surface transportation systems, is holding its Annual Meeting & Exposition May 3-5 in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The three-day event kicks off at 9 a.m. Monday, May 3, with a Texas Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee hearing, followed by a 10 a.m. opening session featuring Houston Mayor Annise Parker, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Participants will visit the 150,000 square-foot expo hall, tour high-tech transportation projects and attend technology demos including an 18-wheeler truck rollover and SAFE Clear incident management response. Other highlights include tours of Houston TranStar, METRO’s HOV System and Rail Operations Center and the Harris County Toll Road Authority. The conference, showcasing the latest ITS technologies, will also host ancillary meetings of the U.S. DOT, Houston-Galveston Regional Safety Council, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Women’s Transportation Seminar, North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition, Texas Towing & Storage Association and the Department of Homeland Security’s National Transportation Security Center of Excellence. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will convene a Surface Transportation Reauthorization Outreach Meeting with stakeholders from 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, to conclude the event.
