Emergency Preparedness Update

The Office of Emergency Management at Houston TranStar has issued the following update as of 4 PM:

• Area bayous are continuing to recede. Based on forecasted rainfall amounts for this afternoon, we should have sufficient capacity. However, if we receive the rain amounts forecast by the National Weather Service, there will be a significant impact to watersheds, and a high possibility of flooding.
• Governor Perry has deployed 25 two-and-½ ton high water trucks to DPS Region 2A (West Road and 290).
• Two Blackhawk S.A.R helicopters are staged at Ellington Field.
• Two helicopters are staged in Grand Prairie, and can reach us at within four hours’ notice.
• An incident management team is en route to DPS region 2A.
• All Harris County departments are making precautions for the weather:
o The Harris County Sheriff’s office, marine division, has staged its six boats for immediate use.
o The Harris County Fire Marshal’s office is coordinating the staging and response of rescue boats in the unincorporated areas of Harris County.

Area residents should stay tuned to local television and radio outlets, and log on to http://traffic.houstontranstar.org/layers/ for the latest on road conditions and traffic incidents.

Houston TranStar’s mission is to provide the best transportation and emergency management services through the use of our collective resources to maximize safety and mobility to the public.
