Houston TranStar Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

Harris County Judge Robert Eckels and Houston Mayor Pro-tem Michael Berry will join others on May 15 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Houston TranStar. The multi-agency organization has been providing traffic management, emergency preparedness and community support to greater Houston since 1996, and was the single gathering place for key officials during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

In addition to Eckels and Berry, several honored guests will be on hand for the celebration, held just before the kickoff of the 2006 Hurricane Season beginning June 1.

Houston TranStar’s mission is to provide the best transportation and emergency management services through the use of our collective resources to maximize safety and mobility to the public.

Houston TranStar is a unique traffic and emergency management collaboration comprising four agencies: The City of Houston, Harris County, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) and the Texas Department of Transportation.
