Homeland Security Risk of Attack Increase Media Advisory

HOUSTON TRANSTAR PARTNER AGENCIES INCREASE VIGILANCE WITH HOMELAND SECURITY TERRORIST RISK ASSESEMENT INCREASE BUT WILL NOT ACTIVATE EMEREGNCY OPERATIONS CENTER AT THIS TIME

(Houston, Texas)----- Today, Houston TranStar, the Transportation and Emergency Management Center for the greater Houston region, has increased its vigilance in light of the Homeland Security Advisory System's increase to "Orange" on the Terrorist Risk Assessment system, but will not be activating the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at this time.

Citizens are being urged to:
1.) Be alert to suspicious activity and report it to the proper authorities
2.) Exercise caution when traveling
3.) Have shelter in place materials on hand
4.) Review disaster plans with all family members
5.) Ensure disaster and communications plans are understood and practiced by all family members
6.) And, If a need is announced, donate blood at designated blood collection centers
